01 December, Bhubaneswar
The winter session of the Odisha Assembly is beginning today at Bhubaneswar. The session will have 21 working days including 13 official and 4 non-official working days. During the session, the government would present five bills in the House for its approval.
The session is all set to be stormy with the Opposition parties likely to take on government on several issues including farmers’ suicide, drought, irregularities in NFSA card distribution, unemployment problem and demand that the government make its stand clear over the deaths of farmers.
BJP has said the party’s focus will be on the four ministers who have been in the controversy on issues ranging from Agricultural loans to ration card distribution. The ruling BJD, on the other hand, has decided to highlight its achievements while trying to use central neglect issue to counter the Opposition.
To maintain law and order, 30 platoons of police force have been deployed in the state Assembly.
