In a report released this week, World Bank said, by January 2015, 125 million bank accounts have been opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna launched in August 2014 for comprehensive financial inclusion with the goal of opening a bank account for every household in India.
The World Bank Chief also said access to financial services can serve as a bridge out of poverty.
He said, the World Bank has set a hugely ambitious goal of universal financial access by 2020 and Jan Dhan Yojna is an evidence that we are making major progress.
