India achieves best ever medal tally by winning 74 medals at Asian Games; Archery mixed team bags Gold; Lovlina wins silver in Boxing

At the Hangzhou Asian Games in China, with a total of 74 medals, including 16 gold, 27 silver, and 31 bronze, India is currently in fourth place in the overall medal tally. This is India’s best-ever performance at the Asian Games. Indian athletes are having a stellar day at the Asian Games on day 11. In Archery, the Indian duo of Jyoti Surekha Vennam and Ojas Deotale won gold in the Compound Mixed Team final, defeating South Korea by a score of 159-158.
In Boxing, Lovlina Borgohain won silver in the women’s 75 kg event, while Parveen Hooda won bronze in the women’s 57 kg event. In Squash, the Indian mixed team of Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh won bronze defeating Hong Kong in the semifinals, while Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh reached the final of the mixed doubles event.
Earlier, Ram Babu and Manju Rani opened the country’s medal account on the eleventh day clinching the bronze medal in the 35km mixed relay race walk. In Kabaddi, the women’s team defeated Thailand 54-22 to top Group A. The men’s team beat Thailand 63-26 in their second Group A match.
In badminton, PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy reached the singles quarterfinals. Sindhu defeated Indonesia’s Putri Kusuma, while Prannoy outplayed Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Panarin. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have won against Indonesia. In hockey, the Indian men’s team beat South Korea 3-0. With this, they advanced to a gold medal match.
In Wrestling, Sunil Kumar beat Sukhrob Abdulkhaev of Tajikistan 9-1 in the Greco-Roman 87kg quarter-final bout. In volleyball, the women’s team beat Nepal 3-1, in the women’s classification Pool G match.
In Diving, Siddharth Pardeshi finished 11th in the men’s 10m platform preliminary round, ensuring his place in the final.
Later today, India’s Neeraj Chopra will step out to defend his men’s javelin throw crown, and the Indian men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams will also be in the medal hunt. The country’s athletes are poised to add more medals to the tally in the coming days.
