12 Congress MLAs Suspended from Odisha Assembly for Misconduct and violation of norms.

Twelve 12 of the 14 Congress MLAs were suspended today for alleged misconduct and violation of Assembly norms in the Odisha Legislative Assembly .

The Congress MLAs have been barred from attending House proceedings for seven days.

The decision was taken following a proposal moved by ruling party Chief Whip Saroj Pradhan, citing violations of legislative conduct, which was subsequently passed in the House.Speaker Surama Padhy suspended the 12 Congress MLAs for alleged misconduct and violation of Assembly norms.

The suspended MLAs are Rama Chandra Kadam (Pottangi), C.S. Raazen Ekka (Rajgangpur), Dasarathi Gamango (Mohana), Ashok Kumar Das (Basudevpur), Satyajeet Gamango (Gunupur), Sagar Charan Das (Bhawanipatna), Kadraka Appala Swamy (Rayagada), Prafulla Chandra Pradhan (Kandhamal), Pabitra Saunta (Koraput), Sofia Firdous (Barabati-Cuttack), Mangu Khilla (Chitrakonda), and Nilamadhab Hikaka (Bissam Cuttack).

The Congress legislators were staging protests on several issues by beating gongs and cymbals and playing flutes, creating a ruckus in the well of the house.
Though the Speaker Surama Padhy ordered the Marshals to remove the 12 suspended Congress legislators staged a dharna near Speaker’s Later the unruly Congress members defying the Speaker, continued the protest overnight inside the well of the house.
Interestingly, the main opposition members though appealed the Speaker to reconsider her decision , coindemned the conduct of the Congress members .
