New Delhi, May 01
The Enforcement Directorate has returned assets worth over 30 thousand crore rupees to the victims and the rightful owners under anti-money laundering law provisions last year.
This was stated by Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary while addressing an event on the Enforcement Directorate Day at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. He said the government is committed to providing justice to the people whose businesses have been adversely affected due to financial fraud, citing the actions taken by the ED in this direction.
The Minister lauded the efforts of ED in this area, saying such moves strengthen people’s confidence. He highlighted that the agency has played a crucial role in ensuring the economic integrity of the country and fighting against economic offences.
Mr. Chaudhary added that, at a time when economic offices have become complex and crossed national boundaries, the role of ED has become more critical and relevant. He also said that despite facing pressure, ED is working as a deterrent for those who believe themselves above the law.
The Minister said that from cases related to money laundering and FEMA to chasing the economic offenders, the work of ED has become multidimensional. Speaking on the occasion, ED Director Rahul Navin highlighted the various achievements of the agency.
