India’s Women’s Badminton team made a winning start to its Asian Games campaign, with a 3-NIL win over Kazakhstan in the pre-quarterfinal in Aichi, Japan, today.
P.V. Sindhu set the tone for India with a dominant 21-7, 21-9 win over Kamila Smagulova in the opening singles rubber. Unnati Hooda then extended India’s advantage with an equally convincing 21-7, 21-10 victory over Alissa Kuleshova.
Tanvi Sharma completed the clean sweep with an emphatic 21-5, 21-10 victory over Diana Namenova. India will next face second seeds and hosts Japan in the quarter finals. Japan received a bye in their first-round.
