Indian Men’s Hockey Team Opens Asian Games Campaign with 13-1 Win over Indonesia

In Hockey, the Indian Men’s team opened their Asian Games campaign with a 13-1 win over Indonesia today, in their Pool A game in Kakamigahara, Japan. Dilpreet Singh’s four-goal haul led the team towards victory. While Abhishek, Rajinder Singh, Mandeep Singh, captain Harmanpreet Singh and Jugraj Singh added one apiece. Indonesia’s lone goal came from Aulia Al Ardh in the 33rd minute. The Indian team next faces Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

Earlier, Indian Women’s team began their campaign with a dominant 19-0 win over Uzbekistan in their Pool B opener at Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium. Deepika Sehrawat was the star of the match scoring eight goals. Ishika Chaudhary scored three, while Lalthantluangi and Neha bagged two each. Indian Women’s team will next take on Indonesia tomorrow.

The opening result gave India an early platform in the tournament, with their forwards and penalty-corner attack both making an immediate impact.
