Pramod Bhagat and Bhavina Patel to be flag bearers of Indian contingent for Asian Para Games

Paralympic champions Pramod Bhagat and Bhavina Patel will lead the Indian contingent as flag bearers at the Opening Ceremony of the Asian Para Games, which will get underway later this month.

The Games will be held from 18th to 24th October at Aichi-Nagoya in Japan, with athletes from across Asia competing in the grand sporting event. Para badminton star Pramod Bhagat has won six Asian Para Games medals, including two gold and four bronze, between 2014 and 2023. Para table tennis player Bhavina Patel has also won two Asian Para Games medals – a silver and a bronze – between 2018 and 2023.

Calling it a proud moment, Ms Patel said carrying the Tricolour means representing something much bigger than oneself.

The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) will formally see off the Indian contingent at a special ceremony tomorrow. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will attend the event as Chief Guest, with Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse as Guest of Honour.
