Delhi Govt Recommends Suspension Of DDCA

A two-member probe panel of the Delhi government today recommended suspension of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) and suggested that it be handed over to a body of professional cricketers, sources said.

The committee set up by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on November 13 has submitted its report to the Delhi government.According to sources, the probe panel has recommended that the DDCA be run by a body of professional cricketers.

It has also recommended that the report be sent to the Lodha Committee, and subsequently a commission of inquiry be constituted to probe the irregularities in the DDCA.

The Delhi Chief Minister had earlier formed a two-member committee comprising the sports secretary and the urban development secretary to probe into alleged irregularities in DDCA.

The committee had been asked to submit its report within 48 hours.The DDCA had been given a 24-hour deadline by the Delhi government to act on the issue of the payment of entertainment tax of Rs 24 crore.The issue is likely to lead to the DDCA losing to Pune its chance to host the final Test match against South Africa between December 2-6,

The DDCA said it would approach the High Court, seeking its interim permission to host the fourth and the final Test between India and South Africa at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.
