By-Poll Results : BJP, TMC , TDP retain their respective seats

The ruling BJP today won the Panaji assembly constituency by- poll, retaining the seat that was held by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar since 1994. BJP candidate Siddharth Kuncolienkar won the by-election by a margin of 5,368 votes defeating his immediate rival and Congress nominee Surendra Furtado.
Siddharth polled 9 thousand 9 hundred 89 votes while Panaji Mayor Surendra Furtado got 4 thousand 6 hundred 21 votes. Panaji seat was vacant since November, 2014 after former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar resigned following his elevation as Defence Minister in the Narendra Modi led cabinet. It is dominated by BJP since 1994, when Parrikar got elected for the first time. The by-polls were held on February 13.
In West Bengal ruling Trinamul Congress has retained Bongaon Parliamentary and Krishnaganj Assembly seats. In Bongaon parliamentary seat bye election the Party nominee Mamata Bala Thakur has defeated her nearest CPI (M) rival Debesh Das over 2 lakh 11 thousands votes.
In Krinaganj Assembly segment the Trinamul Congress candidate Satyajit Biswas has defeated his nearest BJP nominee Manabendra Roy over 37 thousand votes.
In the bye election in these two seats the voting percentage of BJP has significantly increased.
Meanwhile, the Trinamul Congress Supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has termed the verdict as people’s victory against all kinds of conspiracy by BJP and others.
Talking to newsmen she said that this is a befitting reply to all kinds of mal campaign against oppositions which already reflected in just concluded polls of Delhi and now in Bengal and in future through out the country.
In Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party has retained Tirupati Assembly Constituency in by-election today. Sugunamma of TDP has emerged victorious by a majority of more than one lakh 16 thousand over her nearest Congress rival Sridevi. The Congress candidate lost her deposits. The district Election authorities have announced Sugunamma’s election in Tirupati . The by-poll was held following death of TDP member Venkataramana after the General Elections held last year.
In Tamil Nadu, AIADMK candidate Valarmathy has got a huge lead of 65,967 at the end of the sixteenth round out of a total of 23 rounds. Ruling AIADMK candidate has got 1 lakh 5 thousand 378 votes DMK candidate Ananth has polled 39 thousand 411 votes and BJP candidate Subramaniam 4 thousand 613 votes.
The by-poll for Srirangam Assembly constituency in Tiruchirapalli district was held last Friday. The by-election in Srirangam Assembly constituency was necessitated by disqualification of Jayalaithaa as MLA after she was convicted in the Disproportionate Assets case by Bengaluru special court.
