Patna High Court restrains Manji Govt. from taking any policy decisions involving financial implications

The Patna High Court Monday restrained the Jitan Ram Manjhi Government in Bihar from taking any policy decisions involving financial implications till 19th of this month.

A Division Bench comprising Justice Iqbal Ahmad Ansari and Justice Samrendra Pratap Singh today passed the order on a petition filed by JD(U) Member of Legislative Council Neearaj Kumar who had pleaded for a blanket ban on Manjhi Government for taking any policy decisions. He had also pleaded that since Manjhi Government did not have majority support, he should be restrained from taking any decision.

In a related development, main opposition party, BJP today moved the Patna High Court seeking to ban Bihar Assembly Speaker Uday Narain Choudhary to take any decision on Nitish Kumar led JDU’s demand for its recognition as the main opposition party in place of the BJP. State Party General Secretary, Sudhir Kumar Sharma has filed a petition in this regard in the Patna High Court.

On the other hand, Assembly Speaker Uday Narain Chaudhary deferred all political party meetings slated for Wednesday, two days ahead of the floor test of the Manjhi Government.
