India-Japan Sign Pact To Benefit Chennai Metro Rail Project

India and Japan Friday signed Rs 5,000 crore agreement that would benefit Chennai nd Ahmedabad Metro Rail Projects. S Slvakumar, Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India and Yutaka Kikuta, Charge d Affaires Embassy of Japan to India exchanged the agreements, a press release here said.

The Government of Japan has committed Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan of an amount of about. Rs.1,080 crore) for the Chennai Metro Rail Project, phase four, and about. Rs.4456 crore) for the Ahmedabad Metro Project.

The agreement was under India-and Japan’s mutually beneficial economic development co-operation since 1958. In the last few years, the economic cooperation between India and Japan has strengthened and grown into strategic partnership.
