JD(S) Will Go IT Alone In K’taka Council Elections: Deve Gowda
28 November, Bengaluru
Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal(Secular) President H.D. Deve Gowda has ruled out alliance with any party in the coming Legislative Council elections in Karnataka.
Speaking to newspersons in Channarayapatna last evening, he saidthat it was a closed chapter. ‘There is no need to create confusion.Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has denied any alliance; similarly JD(S)State president H.D. Kumaraswamy also has said the same.
The party will contest alone in all the constituencies, considering that an alliance might affect the coming zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat elections,’ he said.
Regarding the candidates, Mr. Deve Gowda said that there were many contenders for party ticket for the old Mysore region. The partys State president and other leaders will discuss and finalise the candidates within two days. Responding to a question on debates over intolerance in the country, he said debate on growing intolerance in the country was unfortunate.
‘Whatever has happened has happened, there is no need of giving justification. None including writers, media or political parties should contribute to worsen the situation,’ he said.
