Delhi Poll Humiliation : RSS questions BJP’s decision to project Kiran Bedi as CM candidate
Feb 17, New Delhi
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has questioned BJP’s decision to project Kiran Bedi as the Chief Ministerial candidate in the recently concluded Delhi Assembly elections.
BJP had faced humiliating defeat in the hands of Aam Aadmi Party in the election and won only three seats in the 70 member assembly.
Listing the possible reasons for the party’s debacle, the RSS in its Hindi mouthpiece Panchjanya, contemplated whether the results would have been different had Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan or any other BJP member from the state been chosen as CM candidate.
It also said BJP’s failure to take Narendra Modi government’s achievements to the masses may have been a probable cause of failure.
Another article criticized the approach taken by BJP office-bearers towards projection of certain members during campaigning. An article in the Organiser, the English mouthpiece of the RSS, attributed the loss to a defensive poll campaign.
