Prime Minister Modi inaugurates Aero-India show, stresses to improve India’s defence preparedness

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said there is need to improve India’s defence preparedness. Inaugurating Aero India show in Bengaluru Wednesday , he said developing defence system is at the heart of government’s Make in India programme.

Modi said defence output will double if domestic procurement goes up from 40 per cent to 70 per cent in next five years.

The Prime Minister said government will build an industry that will have room for everyone, including public and private sectors and foreign firms.

He said from sellers, the foreign firms must turn into strategic partners. Mr Modi said it must be ensured that India’s tax system does not discriminate against domestic manufacturer in comparison to imports.
