BJP MLA Vijender Gupta ‘Marshaled Out’ From Delhi Assembly

30 November, New Delhi

In a high-voltage drama, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta was marshaled out from Delhi Legislative Assembly Monday . following his allegation against Speaker Ram Niwas Goel of being harsh towards BJP legislator O P Sharma.

Earlier, Sharma, Vishwas Nagar MLA, was suspended on November 26 from the house by the Chair for the entire winter session over his derogatory remark on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lady MLA Alka Lamba.

Accusing AAP of resorting to unruly behavior in a bid to silence the voice of Opposition, Gupta said he had suffered bruises while he was dragged out by marshals and later also called in the police to report the incident.

”Around, ten marshals were sent to throw me out. They cannot shun us like this. Assembly is discussing such an important bill, Lokpal Bill, and they dont want the Opposition,” Gupta said.

”We will approach President Pranab Mukherjee to apprise him that these things are happening in the name of Democracy,” he added.

However, the speaker asked Gupta to submit his complaint in writing on the issue and join Houses proceedings, resuming at 1600 hours.
