Haryana To Honour 236 Sportspersons On Dec 21

Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij said the winners of the 35th national games organised in Kerala, who belong to Haryana, would be felicitated at the Indradhanush Auditorium in Panchkula on December 21.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would grace the occasion as the chief guest.
Vij said 236 sports persons of Haryana would be honoured during this function and cash awards amounting to Rs 8.69 crore would be given away.
He said sports persons from Haryana bagged 40 gold, 40 silver and 27 bronze medals during the National Games held in Kerala.
The Minister said the state government had announced a new sports policy, under which the cash prize awarded to National Games winners was hiked.
The amount of the cash prizes awarded to gold, silver and bronze medalists were increased from Rs three lakh to Rs five lakh, from Rs two lakh to Rs three lakh and from Rs one lakh to Rs two lakh respectively under the new policy.
Vij said the present BJP government had earlier felicitated 157 outstanding sports persons of the state at Chandigarh on August 11, 2015, by giving away cash awards amounting to more than Rs 53.50 crore.
