Kejriwal Accuses Centre Of ‘Vendetta’

The Delhi government Sunday ordered an inquiry into the alleged financial fraud of the state cricket body.

The order was issued immediately after cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad accused the Delhi and District Cricket Association of irregularities, including giving contracts to fake companies and paying them crores in cash.

The DDCA blamed its former chief Sneh Bansal and gave clean chit to finance minister Arun Jaitley, its chief for 13 years. The Delhi government will set up a commission of inquiry in the issue and it will be headed by former Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramaniam.

At a media conference in Delhi, Kirti Azad said the matter should be probed by the Enforcement Directorate. “I just want to expose corruption, the accounts of it will be explained later. This is not personal or against one person. It is against corruption,” the former cricketer said.DDCA had given contracts to various companies but the addresses given for these were found to be false.

Finance Minister Jaitley has been accused of corruption by Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party. AAP has demanded that Jaitley must resign or be “removed” from the cabinet to enable an independent probe.

Jaitley has rejected the allegations, calling them a propaganda technique of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to deflect attention from CBI raid on an officer close to him.

A day after Mr Kejriwal’s office was searched by the CBI in an alleged corruption case, a new bitter spat between the Delhi government and the Centre ensued.Docs seized from my office. The CM claimed the real reason why the CBI raided his office was to seize a file pertaining to an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the DDCA in which Jaitley would have been trapped.CBI kept reading DDCA file in my office.
