J&K HC Stays Single Bench Order On Hoisting State Flag On Official Buildings
01 January, Srinagar
A division bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Friday stayed a single bench order directing the state government to hoist the state flag on official buildings and vehicles of constitutional authorities.
On 27 of last month, the Court had directed the state government to hoist the state flag, along with the national flag.
A petition was moved before a division bench of Justices Tashi Rabstan and Bansi Lal Bhat challenging the upholding the government circular .
Jammu and Kashmir is the only state which is permitted to fly its own state flag along with the national flag.
Reacting to the issue, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh said it is the prerogative of the Jammu Kashmir Assembly and the state government to take a call on the flag issue. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr Singh said the state government is capable of handling the issue.
