Kirmani To Donate 25% Of BCCI Prize Money For Charity

In an encouraging move, former India stumper Syed Kirmani has decided to donate 25 per cent of the Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award prize money towards the education of deprived girls of the country.

The news was revealed by Kirmanis wife Habiba that the cricketer has decided to donate a sum of Rs 6.25 lakh, which is 25 per cent of the prize money of Rs 25 lakh that he received from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) along with the honorary award that felicitated him for his contributions towards Indian cricket.

We have decided to donate 25 per cent (Rs 6.25 lakh) of this amount to the needy people of the country. We always believe that every family should have at least one educated person and the donation will be utilised for girls education, Ms Habiba was quoted as saying.

Kirmani was a part of the 1983 World Cup winning squad, represented India in 88 Tests and 49 ODIs during the 1970s and 1980s.

Apart from Kirmani, players like Virat Kohli and Robin Uthappa were also felicitated. While Kohli received the Polly Umrigar Trophy for Cricketer of the Year, Uthappa received Madhavrao Scindia Awards for feats in Ranji Trophy as he became the highest run-getter.
