Manjhi asks Nitish to resign as Lalu is the “de facto” CM

Chief of Hindusanti Awam Morcha Jitan Ram Manjhi Thursday said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should resign from his post in wake of RJD Chief Lalu Prasad managing to become the “de facto” chief minister.

Mr Manjhi, a former chief minister told newspersons here that RJD chief Lalu Prasad by making a surprise visit to Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in the capital city to inspect one of the premier hospitals of the state had proved that he was the “real ruler” of the state, relegating the position of Mr Kumar to a just “namesake” CM.

He said since Mr Kumar was not in command and RJD chief was calling the shots, JD (U) leader should not take all the blame for the deteriorating law and order situation and should relinquish his post without any further delay.

Mr Majhi said the law and order situation in the state had reached to a new low and he would like to take Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on board to launch a multi-pronged offensive against the state government for its failure on all fronts.

He described Ms Mayawati as the “messiah of Dalits”, adding that she was pained how he, being a Dalit was removed from the post of Chief Minister last year.

Reacting to termination of membership of three rebel JD (U) MLCs -Mahachandra Prasad Singh, Narendra Singh and Samrat Choudhary, Mr Manjhi accused the JD (U) leadership of adopting double standard on this count.

He said the decision to terminate membership of these MLCs was discriminatory in nature recalling how other rebel JD (U) leaders Annu Shukla, Renu Kushwaha and Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias LalanSingh remained unpunished despite harming party`s interest.
