Union Govt. defends proposed amendments to Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act-2013

The Centre has strongly defended the amendments proposed to the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

Official sources said that the amendments proposed seek to protect the interests of the farmers besides boosting industrial development.

It also aimed at removing the bottlenecks faced by the states in acquiring land for development purposes.

The clarification comes in the backdrop of the social activist Anna Hazare launching a campaign in the capital on Tuesday.
