Jallikattu Impasse: BJP Delegation To Visit Delhi, Meet PM

Amid growing protests in the southern districts over the Supreme Court staying the Centre’s notification, paving way for holding the traditional rural sport of Jallikattu (taming of bulls) during the four-day Pongal festivities, which starts tomorrow, a delegation of the Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP would be visiting New Delhi tomorrow to impress Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders to take all steps to ensure that the event was held this year.
The delegation would be led by BJP State unit President Tamizhisai Soundararajan.
Senior leader and Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, who has been making strenuous efforts to hold the event and alsowon accolades from Opposition parties in the State after the Centre issued the notification on January seven, would accompany the delegation along with Party National Secretary L Ganesan and other leaders.
