Odisha To Develop World Class Infrastructure For Football And Field Competition

The Odisha government Thursday decided to develop world class infrastructure to organize national and international level sports events in the state.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed the Sports department to prepare the required blue print for the creation of world class sports facilities in the state.

A high level meeting held under the Chairmanship of the chief minister decided to create world class infrastructure for the sports like football, and track and field competitions.

The state has world class infrastructure only for organizing national and international level Hockey matches.

The meeting also decided to construct mini stadium in rural and urban areas and good sports hostels to promote sports in the state. Sources said the construction of 159 mini stadia in rural areas and 41 in urban areas were taken up.Patnaik directed the officials to complete the construction of minimum 100 stadia by the end of August next.

The meeting also decided to construct four mini stadias in each of the five Municipal CorporationsBhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Rourkela, Sambalpur and Berhampur. In addition to it one mini stadium would be constructed in each of the 111 Notified Area Council and Municipal areas of the state in next three years.

The Panchyatiraj department was asked to develop playground in rural areas and in all schools of the state.BM
