A local court in Barrackpore at North 24 Paraganas District of West Bengal Sunday granted bail to Sibaji Panja who was a member of delegation of the State Chief Minster Miss Mamata Banerjee’s visit to Bangladesh. He was arrested in Kolkata on charges of financial irregularities on his arrival from Dhaka.

The court granted him bail on a personal bond of 50 thousand rupees.

Panja had been detained by the Emigration Department officials in Kolkata last night, soon after his arrival from Bangladesh.

Delhi police issued a look out notice against Panja in an alleged financial fraud case. The Economic Offence Wing has registered a case against him for allegedly taking a loan of 18 crore rupees from State-owned Industrial Finance Corporation of India by submitting fake documents .

West Bengal Chief Minster Miss Mamata Banerjee has said that the arrest has no relation with her Bangladesh trip. She said that Panja is a businessman and he was nabbed in connection with a business deal.

Panja is a close aide of West Bengal Chief Minster and has produced a number of Bengali films.
