Opposition parties have expressed disappointment over the address by President Pranabh Mukherjee to the joint session of both the houses of Parliament.

Congress leader Pramod Tewari said there was nothing new in the speech. He told reporters outside Parliament that there is no new scheme in the address.

Tewari also ruled out support to Land Acquisition Ordinance saying it is anti-farmer. He said the Congress will not accept it in the present form. He alleged that the government is working under pressure from some industrialists.

Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav said, there is no announcement for the farmers in the speech. He said, that the President’s speech has only endorsed the ordinances brought by the NDA government.

BSP chief Ms Mayawati echoed the similar views saying that the speech is mere reiteration.
