Land Acquisition Bill introduced in Lok sabha amid protest by Oppn. Ruckus ion Rajya Sabha

The NDA Government Tuesday introduced the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Bill, 2015, in the Lok Sabha. The Bill was introduced by Rural Development Minister Birender Singh.
Opposition parties made it clear that they will oppose the Land Acquisition Ordinance. The parties maintained that the ordinance brought out by the NDA government is anti farmer.
However , the government assured that it will hold a discussion soon on Land Acquisition Bill with all parties. The assurance was given by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Rajya Sabha today.
Earlier, the House witnessed noisy scenes with the opposition benches protesting against the introduction of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Bill, 2015 in the Lok Sabha.
As soon as the House met for the day, Anand Sharma of the Congress accused the NDA government of arbitrarily changing the provisions which are against the interest of the farming community. He demanded that the government should withdraw the Bill.
Sharad Yadav of the JD(U) alleged that the government wanted to bulldoze the poor by bringing such an Ordinance. BSP Chief Mayawati said the proposed legislation was not in the farmers’ interest as a whole. She demanded a review of the legislation.
Ram Gopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party also reiterated similar view that the government did not consult the opposition.
K C Tyagi of JD(U), D Raja of the CPI, Jairam Ramesh of the Congress and Derek O brien of the Trinamool Congress raised questions on the Bill.
Earlier, responding to queries, Leader of the Upper House and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley countered the opposition allegation that the Upper House was by-passed. Bringing Ordinance by the Government is well within the constitutional frame work, Jaitly said.
Stating that there is no question of bypassing the Parliament , he said altogether 636 Ordinances were promulgated in the country since its Independence. Of them 80 per cent of Ordinances were promulgated by Congress governments.
