BJP-PDP announces to form coalition Govt.in J&K soon on Common Minimum Programme, Swearing-in likely on March 1

Two months after the verdict, BJP and PDP Tuesday dec lared their alliance to form a new government in Jammu and Kashmir. As a watershed development , the announcement in this regard was made jointly by BJP President Amit Shah and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti after their meeting in New Delhi.

According to sources, the swearing-in ceremony of the coalition Governmetn would be held at Jammu University stadim on March 1. PDP chief Mifti Mahemmad Sayed would take oath as Chief Minister. Tweleve Ministers , six from each side are likely to take oath.

Talking to reporters, Shah said that the two parties have almost reached a consensus on Common Minimum Programme and BJP-PDP alliance government will be formed in the coming days.

Shah said that a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and PDP leader Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will take place in a few days and then the date of government formation will be announced.

On the occasion, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti said that the tie is not for power sharing but to win the hearts and minds of people of Jammu and Kashmir. She said the alliance has been formulated keeping in mind the aspirations of people of the state.

Ms. Mufti said that the two parties will provide a pro-development and corruption-free government in the state.

In the Assembly elections in December last year, no party got majority in 87 member House. PDP had emerged as the single largest party with 28 seats, while the BJP was second with 25 seats. Presently the state is under governor’s rule.

Reacting on the issue ,Minister of State in Prime Minister’s office, Jitendra Singh said that there is decisive and significant development in talks between BJP and PDP over government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking to reporters outside Parliament ,Singh who is also an MP from J&K, said that the final decision will be made public at an appropriate time.
