Team Swachh led by Cricketer Umesh Yadav reaches Nagpur

Team Swachh, an initiative taken by UNICEF, ICC and BCCI, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat mission, today reached the Vidharbha Cricket Association Stadium, here, led by local lad and Indian cricketer Umesh Yadav.
UNICEF, ICC and BCCI recently joined hands under the banner ‘Team Swachh’ to promote toilet use and sanitation in eight cities, which are the venues for the ICC World T20 matches.
The team included children from villages of nearby district Chandrapur and interacted with fans and mediapersons.Talking about this special tour, Idhries Ahmad of UNICEF said, ”we got cricketers as they are famous and people, especially children, listen to them.”
He added that they have received positive response from the cities they visited and hope to receive more from the remaining three cities.The Team Swachh tour was launched this month by former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
The tour started from Dharamshala, reached Mohali and went to the national capital Delhi before reaching Kolkata. Nagpur is the fifth stop. It now travels to Chennai (March 1), Bengaluru (March 3) and Mumbai (March 6). The world T20 will begin on March 8.
