Naveen announces measures for growth of MSMEs in Odisha

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Saturday announced a slew of new initiatives for the growth of MSME sectors in the state as a tribute to the great legendary leader Biju Patnaik on his birth centenary celebration being observed across the state with much funfare.
Addressing the 12th Entrepreneurship week coinciding with the birth centenary celebration of Biju Patnaik here, Patnaik said the state government has proposed to set up 38,000 MSME units with employment of one lakh people.
He also announced setting up of ten food parks for development of food processing sectors, ten livlihood business incubators in the potential districts for development of livelihood and use of local skills, ten new village industries clusters by the Odisha Khadi and Village Industries and three food processing corridors covering potential districts of the state.
Paying tribute to the legendary leader, Patnaik said Biju Babu dreamt of industrially developed and prosperous Odisha, adding that it should be our endeavour to take the Odisha to the top of industrial map of the country which will be the greatest tribute to the great leader and the doyen of entrepreneurship.
He further said the essence of the present celebration is the spread the spirit of the entrepreneurship among the youth of Odisha.The process of industrialization, he said must be participatory and transparent and foster the inclusive growth of all sectors.
Stating that the MSMEs are important players of industrialization propelling the growth of economy and pace of development, Patnaik said the state government had taken a number of initiatives to promote MSMEs through policy frame work like the MSME development 2009, Odisha Food Processing Policy 2013, and Odisha procurement Preference policy 2015.
The Industrial Policy Resolution 2015 has been launched in the state with a plethora of incentives to attract the investment. The Odisha Industriers Facilation Amendment rule 2015 has been notified to provide a condusive environment for industrialization, he said.
Similarly, the Investment Facilitation cell has been formed at the state and the district level to promote land holding support, he said adding that the state government had also introduced in the on line facilities to provide basic industrialisation support like land, power and water to the industries.
