Naveen describes Odisha budget as peoples budget,farmer centric, investor friendly

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Friday described the annual budget presented by Finance Minister P K Amat in the Odisha Assembly for 2016-2017 as a historic, farmer centric,investor friendly and peoples budget.

In a statement here,Mr.Patnaik congratulated the Finance Minister for presenting a historic budget that commemorate the 80 years of the state and addressed the priorities of the government such as rural housing, road connectivity, rural electrification, rural livelihood and food security.

The Chief Minister also welcomed the concept of establishing Jagannath Enclave and a scheme for providing shelter to the “Habisiali” at Puri during the kartik brata and creating a Odia Virtual Academy.

Describing the budget as farmer centric, Patnaik said the budget had focused on agriculture and allied sectors as visible in the outlay which has been increased by 20.89 per cent.

Irrigation also received a major push in the budget which could also be said as investor friendly as it actualizes the provisions of the IPR 2015 besides focusing on skill development and employment generation.

The budget, Patnaik said has also given emphasis on the completion of all ongoing projects so that the desired socio economic benefits are first tracked.

The Chief Minister called the budget as peoples budget since the suggestions given by the people have been factored in the process of budget making.BM
