Amitabh Bachchan did not charge fee from CAB: Sourav
20 March, Kolkata
Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly today said Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan did not charge any fee from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for singing the national anthem at the crucial World Cup Twenty20 match against Pakistan at Eden Gardens.
Not only did Bachchan not take a single penny, he even paid for his own flight and hotel bills, Sourav said.
“Can you ever imagine someone paying Rs 30 lakhs from his own pocket to perform? He booked his own flight, bought his own tickets and even paid the hotel bills,” the CAB president added.
A report on social media went viral which suggested that the Bollywood Super Star had charged Rs 4 crore as his appearance fee.
“The spirit of patriotism has climbed the barometer of an entire nation and suddenly nothing else in the world matter,” Bachchan wrote on his blog on yesterday after India defeated Pakistan.
