President presents Padma awards on 56 eminent personalities

President Pranab Mukherjee Monday conferred the Padma awards on 56 eminent personalities from various fields.

The awards include five Padma Vibhushan, eight Padma Bhushan and 43 Padma Shri.

At a function held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan this morning, Padma Vibhushan was conferred to the late Dhirubhai Hirachand Ambani (Posthumous), Avinash Kamalakar Dikshit, Jagmohan, Dr Yamini Krishnamurthy, and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

Further personalities who were conferred with Padma Bhushan were Hafeez Sorab Contractor, Dr B S Hamdard, Anupam Kher, P S Mistry, Saina Nehwal, Vinod Rai, Dr A Venkata Rama Rao and Dr D Nageshwar Reddy.

Those conferred with the Padma Shri include Dr M Annadurai, Madhur Bhandarkar, Pushpesh Pant, Ajay Devgn, Malini Awasthi, Deepika Kumari and Md Imtiyaz Qureshi.
