Uttarakhand Guv tells officials to ensure tourist facilities in 15 days

Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul Friday gave officials concerned 15 days time to systemise the facilities available for tourists at the tourist places in the state and to ensure that additional amenities required were also provided.

In a meeting held here with secretary (tourism) and secretary (PWD), Dr Paul said Uttarakhand, with abundant natural splendour , is an ideal destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers from all over the country and abroad.

Pointing out that thousands of pilgrims from India and abroad arrive in the state to visit shrines like Badrinath,Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Hemkund Sahib and Piran Kaliyar, Dr Paul said providing them with proper facilities and safety would encourage them to re-visit Uttarakhand.

Keeping this in mind, short term and long term schemes should be prepared for nature, adventure and spiritual tourism to make the experience memorable for the visitors and beneficial for the state, he stressed.

The Governor said that keeping in view the approaching tourist season, all basic facilities that can be given through short term schemes to tourists at all tourist destinations and rest houses should be ensured.

He directed that care should be taken to provide facilities on the routes, transport communication facilities, boarding and lodging and potable water besides safety and security for the visitors.
