Odisha launches 100 Model Schools in 14 districts

The Odisha government Tuesday launched 100 English-medium schools in the first phase under the aegis of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya in 14 districts of the State.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated one such model school at Hinjli in Ganjam district.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Patnaik said his government is planning to open Adarsha Vidyalayas in all 314 block headquarters across the state by the 2017-18 academic session for better education of students with state funding.

Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya is an attempt of the State government to offer education from Standard VI to Standard XII on the patterns of Kendriya Vidyalays to the students of backward regions.

The schools with hostel facilities will follow the CBSE syllabus, with English as the first language and Odia as the second language.

The shool will reserve 50 per cent seats for scheduled categories and girl students. As many as 24,000 students have got chance to get admission in 100 schools.BM
