Air India starts Vienna-Delhi service

In move to spread it wings, government run Air India Ltd Wednesday kicked off non-stop flight services to Austrian capital Vienna from New Delhi, adding eighth European destination to its chart.

The Vienna-Delhi non-stop service will operate three times a week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with a Boeing B787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Speaking on the launch of the service, Ashwani Lohani, Chairman and Managing Director of Air India held that the newly added flight service will cater to different segments of air travelers. “The new service assumed significance in view of the strong relationship that India and Austria have been sharing in tourism, education, industry, culture and so on,” Lohani said.

Famous for its rich imperial heritage and monuments such as palaces, forts etc, Vienna is situated on the banks of river Danube. The capital hubs some big names of sectors like trade, scientific and technological services, real estate, manufacturing and tourism. Over 6.5 million tourists from India visited Vienna in 2015.
