Privilege notice against Odisha Law Minister for misleading Assly with wrong fact

Odisha Opposition Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati and three other Congress legislators today gave a privilege notice against the Law Minister Arun Kumar Sahu for presenting wrong information and misleading the house.

In a notice submitted to Odisha Legislative Assembly secretary Tara Prasad Bahinipati, his party colleagues Subal Singh, Prafulla Majhi and Jacob Pradhan said the minister on May 4 had deliberately presented false information, in the house to mislead the Assembly and the people.

As per the notice, the minister said the leader of opposition had wasted the time of the house by stating that a woman misbehaved but later the leader of the opposition had to tender apology for presenting wrong fact.

The signatories of the notice said the minister has breached the privilege of the house by deliberately making false statement to mislead the house and should be punished. Since the minister is the chairman of the ethics committee, a special committee should be constituted to consider the case, the notice said.
