BJP releases PM Modi’s degrees, seeks apology from AAP for spreading misinformation

BJP Monday released copies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degrees to dispel controversy surrounding his education qualification.

Briefing media in New Delhi, party president Amit Shah accused Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal of spreading misinformation against the Prime Minister. He demanded a public apology from the Delhi Chief Minister and also asked him to clarify on what grounds he leveled allegations.

Arun Jaitley, who was also with Shah, criticised AAP for stooping to a new low and defaming the nation across the world. He said Mr Kejriwal, who claims to be a champion of the common man, should have appreciated Mr Modi for pursuing education even after being in public life.

However, Aam Aadmi Party alleged that the documents were forged and had glaring discrepancies in them. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to twitter alleging DU has sealed the records.

Congress also questioned authenticity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degrees and mark sheets released today. Briefing media in New Delhi this evening, party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, there are inconsistencies of names of Mr Modi printed on the mark sheets.

Refuting opposition’s allegations, party’s National Secretary Shrikant Sharma blamed clerical mistakes for discrepancies in the names and pointed out that they were the same in the final marksheet and the certificate of BA course.

Meanwhile, Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi said that he has not issued any orders for sealing records on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degrees.

He said the University has received an order from the Central Information Commission (CIC) and will respond to it after checking records
