P Nadda lays foundation stone of three medical colleges in J&K

Union Health & family welfare Minister J. P. Nadda alongwith Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti laid foundation stones of three new medical colleges in Rajouri, Baramulla and Anantnag districts Sunday. This will be a major fillip to healthcare sector of the state.

The foundation stone was first laid at Mehra, Rajouri Jammu, followed by Kanth Bagh, Baramulla and at Dialgam, Anantnag. Each college will come up at the cost of Rs 189 crores.

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda said the setting up of five new medical colleges in the state as well as two AIIMS will prove to be a turning point in the State’s healthcare sector.

He said the land has been identified in Kashmir & Jammu for setting up two AIIMS in the State. He added that the Centre has also sanctioned two State Cancer Institute’s at SKIMS Soura and GMC Jammu at an estimated cost of Rs 240 crores.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti hoped that the Centre will continue to extend liberal financial assistance in upgrading the healthcare facilities in the state. Union Minister in PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh said the Centre will bear 90% cost of the total cost of expenditure on creation of the related infrastructure.
