J&K bypoll: Mehbooba Mufti files nomination for Anantnag

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti filed the nomination papers for Anantnag Assembly Constituency by poll.
The seat was left vacant with the demise of her father and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Ms Mufti filed the nomination papers in Anantnag in south Kashmir. Mehbooba, who is also an MP from Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency, will have to get elected from any of the houses of State Legislature by the end of August.
Hilal Ahmed Shah of Congress and Iftikhar Misgar of National Conference are also in fray. Independent MLA Er Rashid is also contemplating to fight elections from Anantnag.
The last date of withdrawal of nomination papers is 4th of this month. The election is scheduled to be held on 19th. Counting of votes will be held on 22nd. The Model Code of Conduct has come into force from 21st May in Anantnag district.
