Odisha BSNL circle adjudges as best in eastern region: Nayak

With a business turnover of Rs 980 crore during the financial year 2015-16, the performance of Odisha circle of the public sector Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has been adjudged best in the entire eastern region.
Disclosing this at a press conference here, BSNL Odisha Chief General Manager Satyananda Nayak said it has registered a net profit of Rs 80 crore during 2015-2016 due to the launching of many customer friendly schemes.
Naik said while the revenue in the landline sector went up to Rs 198 crore during 2015-16 from Rs 186 crore in 2014-15 in the mobile section it increased from Rs 600 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 614 crore during 2015-16.He said as against 25,674 new landline connections given during 2014-15 as many as 28,256 new landline connections were provided in 2015-2016. Similarly the number of broadband connections went up to 26,909 in 2015-16 from 26,399 during 2014-15.
The CGM said while 6,74,883 new mobile connections were given during 2014-15 the number went up to 10,30,645 during 2015-16 and claimed that BSNL has registered highest growth in telecom industry due to the launching of many affordable and attractive schemes.BSNL has expanded its network by adding 886 2G and 3G BTS IN 2015-16 including in remote Naxal affected areas.
The BSNL, he said had planned to further expand its network by adding 905 new 2G and 3G BTS in the current financial year.
Naik said BSNL has launched schemes like free roaming for mobile customers, night free calling for landline customers and free to home service. Under free to home service the postpaid as well as prepaid mobile customer can divert their incoming calls to landline numbers free of cost.
The company has also launched NGN (next Generation technology) services for its fixed line customers in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, high speed internet service in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Sambalpur by providing Fiber to the home.
On the eve of Ramzan BSNL has brought a combo voucher of Rs 786 with the talk value of Rs 600, data usage of 786 MB and 786 free SMS with a validity of 30- days, the CGM said.BM
