Office of Profit case: EC to hear case against AAP MLAs on July 14

27 June, New Delhi

Election Commission has fixed 14th of next month for hearing case of Office of Profit of 21 AAP MLAs of Delhi.

Arvind Kejriwal government had appointed these MLAs as Parliamentary Secretaries which was challenged by BJP and Congress.

The MLAs could be disqualified if the EC finds them guilty of flouting rules.

President Pranab Mukherjee had earlier this month withheld the assent to a Bill passed by the Delhi Government to exempt the post of Parliamentary Secretary from the purview of an office-of-profit with retrospective effect.
