Centre to commemorate 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh across the world next year

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday recalled the sacrifices of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur on his 300th Martyrdom Anniversary saying he will remain the source of inspiration for generations to come.
Addressing the commemorative event in New Delhi to mark his Martyrdom anniversary, Mr Modi said, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was not just a great warrior but also very sensitive towards common people and committed to democracy.
The Prime Minister said, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur believed in being an administrator without seeking any benefit for himself. Modi said during his rule poor people and minorities felt secure and his every decision was aimed at development.
The Prime Minister added that after getting inspiration from Guru Gobind Singh, Banda Bahadur embarked on a new journey for social development.
He told the gathering that Guru Gobind Singh’s 350th Birth Anniversary will be celebrated all across the world next year. He said, a high level committee is being constituted and 100 crore rupees has been alloted for the purpose.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal criticized the opposition for tarnishing the name of industrious people of the state as drug addicts. He said, Punjab is ahead in industrial and other productions which could not have been achieved without the hard working people.
On the occasion, Modi released a book and souvenir on the life of Banda Bahadur. Governor of Punjab Kaptan Singh Solanki, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal , Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore were among others who attended the event.
