Do not interfere in our matter, India warns Pakistan

Sending a strong message across the border, India today asked Pakistan not to meddle in its internal affairs. India’s response comes a day after Pakistan Foreign office termed the gunning down of Hizbul militant Burhan Wani as “an extra judicial killing”.

“We have seen statements from Pakistan on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. They reflect Pakistan’s continued attachment to terrorism and its usage as an instrument of State policy. Pakistan is advised to refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of its neighbours,” the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement here.

India’s position was echoed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who launched a veiled attack on Pakistan, saying “We must be equally condemning of those, who give shelter to terrorists and use them as political instruments.”

Both sides have traded charges at each other at a time, when Kashmir Valley is on the boil, with separatist elements in Jammu and Kashmir seem to be getting support for fomenting anger from across the border.
