Dr Mani is new DG of National Museum

The government has appointed noted archaeologist Budha Rashmi Mani as the Director General of National Museum.
According to an official statement released by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions here today, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Dr Budha Rashmi Mani, Additional Director General (Retired), Archaeological Survey of India to the post of Director General, National Museum, New Delhi”.
The appointment of Dr Mani is on contract and for a period of three years or till attaining the age of 70 years, the statement said.
Dr Mani, a former official of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), was a part of the team, which during an excavation at the disputed site in Ayodhya, had discovered what were said to be the remains of a temple.
Dr Mani retired as the Additional Director General of ASI in 2015.
