AAP to move SC against Delhi HC’s order on LG : Dilip Pandey
04 August, New Delhi
The Aam Aadmi Party Thursday said its politely disagreed with the Delhi High Court judgement on LG, and to safeguard the rights of Delhiites, it will necessarily move the Supreme Court.
Delhi unit AAP convenor Dilip Pandey was reacting to the High Court order that the Lieutenant Governor is the administrative head of National Capital Territory.
In an official tweet, Pandey said, “The faith of AAP in democratic values in unmoving and uncomplaining. We sincerely and politely disagree with the judgement and will move the SC.”
”Delhi government is the symbol of people’s aspirations. Its defiance will be the defiance of democratic values. The assembly cannot be devoid of rights of the people,” he further said.
Earlier in the day, a division bench comprising Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nant said decisions taken by the Delhi government without consulting the LG were illegal.
The court also rejected the AAP government’s submission that the LG is bound to act on advice of Council of Ministers, after noting that these were without any substance and cannot be accepted.
After the court passed the order, the AAP government’s counsel said they will file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the order immediately.
