Death toll mounts to 158 after 6 more deaths due to encephalitis

After six more children died of encephalitis in Baba Raghav Das Medical College Hospital during the past 24 hours, the death toll due to the disease rose to 158 today.

Official sources said here among six deceased, two were from Gorakhpur and as many from Sidhharth Nagar and one each from Kushinagar and Deoria districts. Sources said 616 patients of encephalitis have been admitted Baba Raghav Das Medical College Hospital since past January 1, in which 158 kids have been died due to this disease.

Sources said 13 new patient of encephalitis have been admitted recently while total 89 patients suffering from this disease are getting treatment in the hospital. Patients of encephalitis from Gorakhpur, Basti, Azamgarh, Ballia, Gonda, Mau, Gazipur, Balrampur, Ambedkar Nagar, Badaun districts and from nearby states like Bihar and Jharkhand also from neighboring country Nepal are getting treatment in Medical college hospital of Gorakhpur.
