Shaktikanta to put India’s views at SAARC FMs meet in Islamabad
25 August, New Delhi
Amid ensuing tension between India and Pakistan over Kashmir and terrorism, Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das will participate in a review meeting of the SAARC Finance Ministers meet and would take stock of the updated implementation status of custom cooperation, avoidance of double taxation, promotion and protection of investment, cooperation in the banking sector and trade liberalisation.
It is being believed that the meeting would recommend the measures to enhance regional cooperation in order to move fast towards South Asian Economic Union.
It is said that the outcome of these meetings will complement the agenda of the upcoming ninth SAARC Summit to be hosted by Pakistan in Islamabad on November 9-10 this year.
