Curfew lifted in most parts of J&K; Home Minister to lead all party delegation next month

In Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities Monday lifted curfew from Kashmir Valley except south Kashmir’s Pulwama town and the areas under Maharaj Gunj and Nowhatta police stations in old Srinagar city after 51 days of unrest. No major untoward incident was reported from any part of the Valley so far.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh after concluding his 2nd Kashmir visit invoked Atal Behari Vajpayee’s mantra that talks will be held with all who believe in Insaniyat, Kashmiriyat and Jamhooriyat. Mehbooba Mufti has already appealed Hurriyat leaders to come forward and help in saving innocent lives as also engage in a meaningful dialogue process for the peaceful resolution of the issue.

Observers opined that like AB Vajpayee, PM Narendra Modi has strong mandate to make history by initiating comprehensive dialogue process involving all stakeholders to achieve breakthrough on Kashmir. They said this will usher into an era of lasting peace and prosperity not only in J&K but also in South Asian region.

While All Party Delegation headed by Home Minister is visiting Kashmir likely this weekend, the continuation of tackling Kashmir through law and order prism may add more complexities to the situation.
