Micromax, OPPO to set up mobile manufacturing units in Greater Noida

Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Deepak Singhal today directed to provide all the facilities on priority to Micromax and OPPO mobile phone manufacturing companies to set up their units in Greater Noida.

He met the senior officials of Micromax and OPPO mobile manufacturing companies at his office here. In a big boost to electronic manufacturing clusters in Uttar Pradesh, major mobile and smartphone manufacturing companies- Micromax Informatics and OPPO have proposed to set up mobile phone manufacturing units at Greater Noida.

Micromax would establish its unit over 17 acres of land, while OPPO would set up its unit on around 150 acres.

The Chief Secretary said about 5,000 jobs would be directly created in Micromax unit, whereas, 30,000 direct employment opportunities would be created in OPPO manufacturing unit. Same number of indirect job avenues would also be created.

He said Micromax would be making a capital investment of Rs 210 crore. In order to expedite the implementation of project, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has presented the land allotment-letter to Micromax. Mr Singhal said senior officials of OPPO have informed that the company aims to develop five crore mobile phone manufacturing capacity per year in next three years.

He said a manufacturing unit of OPPO has been already set up in Noida.He directed that District Magistrate of Gautambudh Nagar along with officials of departments concerned to facilitate the site-visit of OPPO officials tomorrow and to provide necessary information.

On this occasion, Principal Secretary, Information Technology & Electronics Sanjiv Saran, Staff Officer to Chief Secretary Bhuvnesh Kumar, Special Secretary, IT Bhupendra Chaudhary, Chief Executive Officer of Greater Noida Deepak Agrawal, Co-founder of Micromax Informatics Rajesh Agarwal and Head, Commercial Rakesh Gupta as well as Vice-President of OPPO Eric and Administrative Manager of the company were also present.
